Tractors and crackers.

Today Max went in the pantry and said he wanted a "tractor."  He was pointing to a box of Saltines.

Today in homeschool Gabe and I discussed fractions, extinction, and the Revolutionary war.  I read him a couple of Encyclopedia Brown mysteries, but he doesn't really get them yet.

Here's everyone standing in the driveway, waiting for the UPS man.  Joe is upset that his Superman toy hasn't arrived yet.  Poor Joe ...

So we decided to go see Buddy ...

... who was messing around with his tractor and trailer.

Max wanted a ride ...

... but so did Nathan, who then began to cry!  Poor Nathan ...

So Nathan got his ride, and then Buddy parked the tractor.

Guess who was feeling left out?  Poor Maya ...

So Buddy decided to take all the kids for a ride at the same time in the small tractor!

Waiting for him to get the tractor going ...

As luck would have it, the battery was dead, and the jumper cables could not revive it.

Brian's happy little bunch (and Gabe) ... still waiting.

The small tractor would not crank, and it seems no one is going on hay rides in this flat-tired piece of junk anytime soon.  Buddy said, "Do you guys want to ride in the back of the truck?" to which Gabe replied, "Are you serious?"

Here's the end of the story:  Maya got her exclusive ride on the big tractor, which was noisy enough to drown out Max and Nathan's screams of protest.  The babies went inside and were appeased.  And Joe is old enough to get that he is going to get plenty of toys (and likely his package) tomorrow ...
