Today Gabe and Joe had their picture day at soccer ...  Then they played their game.  The only goal in the whole game was scored by Joe!  (Unfortunately I missed most of the game ...)

I went to a job fair thing at Tomball Hospital.  They don't have any open positions for PRN work meet my needs, but I did the continuing ed and took the tour ...  Maybe I'll end up back there.  

I also went in to see Cousin Kenneth in CCU ...  Saying prayers and hoping he comes out of it alright.  Please say a prayer for him too (if you aren't already) ...

Gabe's friends Uriah and Kaiser came over and spent the afternoon with us.  (Here are Daddy and Max in the boat.)

Max has awakened both of the past two days to someone other than me.  So far he is doing fine ...

He will be three years old in about a week.  (Maybe I should plan him a birthday party?  That has not been on my radar.)

Slipping into fear again.

Here's Gabe's first ever original recipe!  It's a secret, but he said I could share it on the blog ...

Went to my PCP today about my hip again.  It's a muscular problem, but he said that I still really need to look into why my CA 125 is going up.  He said, "I wish I had better news for you."  Wish I hadn't canceled that lab now ...  Now I have to wait till the middle of next month to get checked again (because it's supposed to be timed with my cycle).  Trying to learn to compartmentalize the fear so I can do the things I'm supposed to, and go on with my life, but it's hard to do.  

Talent Night.

Tonight was Talent Night at Cub Scouts!

Unfortunately, though, the kid immediately before Joe did the same trick Joe was going to do!!

So, Joe didn't do his talent ...  What rotten luck.

Earth Day.

Okay, I know that yesterday was Earth Day.  But today was our lesson about it at co-op.

We focused on fossil fuels:  what they are, where they come from, uses, and disadvantages.

I put a bunch of household products on a table and asked them to divide them into groups:  things made from oil, and things not made from oil.  (But it was a trick question, because all the things were made from oil.)

Then we played a little game to guess how long it takes for products we use to biodegrade, along the lines of The Price is Right.

Finally, we had a picnic outside (to enjoy the Earth), then put our trash in a glass jar to simulate a landfill.  I'm going to bring it back so we can see which items biodegrade.

I'm really excited about the next two weeks of co-op.  Next week we are going to pretend to solve a bunch of "crimes" using forensic science.  Then we're having a big trivia game/field day!

No real leads for jobs that meet my criteria yet ...  maybe I am being unrealistic.  (Or maybe just impatient.)  Here's Maya, "taking a bath" in sand.

I chickened out.

I had made an appointment to get my CA 125 redrawn today (since it was a bit elevated last time, and it's a marker for ovarian cancer).

But I am also having the problem with the pulled muscle/tendonitis in my abdomen/pelvis (which I'm afraid might cause a false positive).  So I freaked and canceled it yesterday.

Went out to eat instead.

I hate being freaked about this stuff all the time, and feeling like all these decisions might be life-or-death.

Guess I will wait and get it checked next month instead.

Audra's 40th birthday.

Today Aunt Susie and I went to this restaurant on Louetta to celebrate the birthday of a friend/former student and BRCA sister ...

She just turned 40! 

I didn't take any more pictures (though I should have gotten one of you at least, Aunt Susie)!

Maxie played with Grandma and ate lots of banana bread.  He doesn't seem to miss me or notice much when I go out for a few hours ... That's good!

Gabe would prefer I stayed gone all the time, if it meant me not being around to do homeschool!

I am planning an Earth Day lesson for co-op on Monday.  I guess they're not emphasizing it in regular school, because Joe acted like he'd never heard of Earth Day.
