Gabe experiments with liquids!

Today in homeschool, Gabe and I tried out some experiments for next week's co-op.

We tried layering some liquids, and then Gabe wanted to mix some on his own ...

I've actually never seen him get so excited about science!

He wanted to keep going ... combining more things and mixing food coloring into everything!

Next we got Max and drove to the convenience store ...

... for Mentos and Diet Coke.  But we decided to wait till Daddy and Joe got home to perform that experiment.

Max, eating his peanut butter noodles.  When I give him something hot to eat he says, "Mama, go 'foo!'  Foof it, Mama!"  (This means he wants me to blow on it.)

Today I had to straighten up a situation at my doc's office ...  I'd been calling for a couple weeks to get my referral renewed to the GYN-ONC.  I finally got the referral in the mail, but it wasn't for ME, it was for DAN!

So, Daddy got approved by our doctor to go see a gynecologist.  Nice.

Here's the classic Mentos/Diet Coke experiment!

And here's Joe, shaking up the Diet Coke to try to create more fizzing and explosions when we were done!

Germs and the immune system.

Today at co-op we talked about bacteria and viruses.

Max's schedule is getting worse.  Having so much difficulty getting him to sleep at night and waking him during the day!

There was no co-op last week at the Buddhist temple ...

... due to the Chinese New Year holiday!  There were firecracker wrappers everywhere, and all the statues had plates of fruit next to them.

Our classroom area is shared with 3 other classes and has terrible acoustics, so this week we had our lesson outside!

Had some trouble with kids thinking "outside" meant "recess!"

Park day afterward.  Max was throwing leaves.

Gabe's friend showed up at co-op, but he had slept too late and was too embarrassed to go inside because he was still wearing his pajama shirt!  He spent the three hours of class time in his family's car.

He came out to play with Gabe at the park though!

Granny and Gramps = ice cream and cake.

Max was just up from his nap when Daddy asked him if he was ready to go to Granny and Gramps' house.

Instead of whining, he became immediately alert and was quickly ready to go.

He said, "Granny and Gramps.  Ice cream?  Cake?"  (If we say no at this point he usually says, "Cookies?")

I try to keep Max from eating junk food at all, except on Sundays.  (It doesn't always work, but I try.)

The new goal is to try to get Gabe eating meals on a regular schedule, and sitting down to dinner every night.  (Although Gabe HATES this, because he always wants to be outside.)

Tomorrow is the first day back to co-op in three weeks.

Goodnight!

CPR renewal.

Well, this afternoon I got re-certified for CPR!  (Just another step toward going back to work!)

Maya, using a jumprope as a lasso.

Explaining how to use the lasso to Gabe.

This afternoon the kids went to Uriah's birthday party at Matheson Park!

I couldn't take pictures since I was in CPR class ...

... and Maxie stayed home with Daddy.

Making mental lists of things I need to do before I go back to work, and things to do afterward (when we have money again)!

Max, doing his favorite dance, where he plants his hands on the ground, and uses his legs to jump around with his butt in the air.  (Grandma and the kids call this is "Boonie Dance.")

It's hard to believe that Max will be three years old in just a little more than three months!

Pinewood Derby.

Daddy left for work after noon today, because he had to stay really late for some event.

Maxie is really resistant to his naps lately ...

He obviously needs a nap, but insists on screaming and screaming that he doesn't, before he gives in and falls asleep!  (And then repeats it at bedtime.)

Tonight we were invited to a Boy Scouts event by a friend of Gabe's ...

It was the Pinewood Derby, where all the scouts made wooden cars and raced them!

Buddy, Gabe, Joe, Max and I attended.

Uriah's cousin got first place!

Tomorrow I have to go renew my CPR with Northwest EMS in Tomball, and Gabe and Joe are going to Uriah's birthday party.

Goodnight!

Turtle.

This morning a snapping turtle took a slow trek across our back yard.

Gabe was excited to run outside and take pictures.

The cats took notice ...

Our cats spend a lot of time lately ...

... being catty and fighting with each other.  Max loves to watch them swipe at each other!

Getting tickled by Daddy.

Fidget barks as I walk up to Mom and Dad's doorstep, but doesn't bother to lift his head out of the blanket.

Here's Joe, just before I asked him if he wanted to join the Boy Scouts.

I think I'd like to put Gabe in a troop with his friend Uriah.
