Child labor.

Buddy dug a trench this morning to re-route our septic sprinklers away from the new garden.

And why hire laborers when we have plenty of children available to work?

Buddy, supervising ...  He asked me if this was reminiscent of when he tricked us into digging a hole to bury his garbage in when we were little!  (He told us it would be so much fun!)

Maya says, "I'm doing hard work."

Brian's kids (in the dirt in their white clothes again).

Alright, so the kids only did this for a couple of minutes.  (They weren't making much progress.)  Dan finished the job.

Next it was on to putting leaves in the compost!

Gabe and Joe raced each other pulling their bags.

While Maya worked at her own pace ... with lots of help.

The boys are in charge of getting the empty garbage cans out of the truck on Saturday mornings.

As resistant as he is to helping out inside, Gabe loves to help Buddy in the yard!

They are getting so big and capable!

Big smile now!  (Future free labor?)

The two big boys, relaxing in the barn tonight.

  1. Well, if there's one good thing about having 85% of your family living within 10 yards, it's the fact that there's plenty of good, free child labor to go around.
