Vegan reason #1: The "ick" factor.

I want to post a few reasons for being vegan this week.  In addition to my vegan-niversary, apparently it's National Vegetarian Week (well, in the UK) -- a coincidence!

Maybe it's silly, but the "ick" factor is one reason I like being vegan that I don't hear anyone else list:
  • When you cook without animal products, you never bite into bones, gristle, cartilage, skin, or some unidentifiable body part!
  • You can taste the batter and lick the pan of everything you eat without worrying about deadly bacteria.
  • You don't have to worry about cooking things for 'x' amount of time at 'x' temperature in order to kill deadly bacteria.  95% of food poisoning comes from animal products.
  • Although you probably shouldn't, you can also leave your food sitting out longer and still eat it.
  • Also, your leftovers keep longer in the fridge without turning icky!
  • Also, you don't have to scrupulously disinfect your countertops or sink!
  • You don't have to feel slightly disgusted when you think of where your food came from.  No udders, no underside of a chicken ... You are not eating anything that ever scratched an itch or went to the bathroom.

Happy birthday, Yomare!  Her birthday party was tonight!

Max, having a good time!
