Max sees the older boys watching Dragon Ball Z and playing Raging Blast ...
He has definitely taken an interest! He now has his first favorite toy!
It's this guy, who is obviously a bit worse for wear now. (I had to take this pic in a hurry -- you can see Max's hand reaching out to snatch it back!)
Max calls him the Big Guy! His actual name is Broly ...

Watching Max play with him next to the pond brings back memories ...

... and his first favorite toy, the Green Man!
If you don't know the story, one day Gabe (whose favorite pastime was throwing rocks into puddles -- that year we had lots of rain) chunked his favorite Green Man into the pond. He didn't understand that he wouldn't be able to get it back!! Daddy waded into the muck, trying to find it, unsucessfully. That Green Man was lost forever. Luckily, Gabe's resourceful Grandma did some research online, made some calls, then went to the party store and bought nine more of these things, in all different shades!
Although Gabe does not remember the Green Man incident, it's still a sore subject for him.
Of course, there's not much danger in a repeat incident with the green man ... since there's almost no water in the pond!! Even the garden Buddy planted in the pond is desperate for water.
Max and I went out to visit all Buddy's gardens today. We found this perfect bird's nest in the gourd vines.
Buddy definitely has a green thumb for raising plants ...
Too bad we don't seem to be as good with animals!

The puppets' heads rotate on a metal fastener so that they can change into their Super Saiyan forms!
Thanks to Grandma, who painstakingly perfects each puppet according to the boys' speculations. I bet she has literally made a hundred of these.
