Today Gabe and I learned about heat energy and the three ways it is transferred: conduction, convection, and radiation. Gabe experienced conduction firsthand when he burned his hand on this cake pan full of hot water!
We then did an experiment to see which object was the best conductor: the metal, the plastic, or the wood. When placed in hot water with butter on top, the butter melts fastest in the best conductor (the metal).
Plus, I got to get rid of some old, expired butter that's been sitting in the fridge since the last time I needed it (for Christmas cookies)!
When we were done we saw the wind blowing hard outside, and then the temperature outside must have dropped by 20 degrees in a matter of seconds.
The summer-y clothes we'd put on this morning suddenly didn't seem so sensible anymore ...
Tonight we went to Granny and Gramps' for dinner since Granny had to work yesterday. They gave Max this little truck and a DVD to go with it!
Every night Gabe reads from a comic book series called Bone. These are some of the characters.
Kingdok is his favorite. Grandma made him a Kingdok puppet today!
