Okay, continuing where we left off on TUESDAY ... We were the only ones swimming in the large, fancy hotel pool!

It was fun for us being the only guests around. I kept getting a vibe from some of the hotel staff that they sort of resented actually having to work, though ...

The guy outside the hotel restaurant who waits to seat people was so bored he was standing there with his eyes closed. When one of the kids made a loud sound, Buddy said, "Shhhh! You'll wake him up!" Followed by our laughter at his expense ...

And speaking of jokes at other people's expense, Maya saw a lady smoking a cigarette and said, (too) loudly to Brian, "That lady is smoking." Brian said, "No, Maya, her lollipop is on fire." The woman shot him a very nasty look.

In the two evenings we were there, Grandma and Buddy took the kids down to play on the playground and pier ...

Feeding the sea gulls ...

You can see the Moody Garden pyramids in the distance.

Gabe was running around so spastically that I was afraid he was going to fall off the pier!

This is one of the last pictures taken of Dan before the wind caught his hat ...

... and down it went into the nasty, dark water below.

Brian got Dad to hold his feet while he stretched down into the water to get it. Yuck!

Here's Gabe, enjoying the playground on the hotel property.

Ditto for Max.

Me to Gabe: "Someday, Gabe, I'll take you to a real beach."
Gabe: "I thought this was a real beach."

Me: "I mean a real, clean beach."

"You see how the sand here is brown? It's supposed to be white. It's just brown because of people's garbage."

"And you see how the water here is brown too? It's supposed to be blue. It's just brown because of people's garbage."

"Oh, and on a real beach you can find lots of shells. On this beach all you can find is ...
People's garbage."
Maybe we'll hit a prettier beach some other year. We had a great trip, though! This concludes our Galveston pictures. Tomorrow we'll move back to daily events!
