We just got back from a 3-day, 3-family vacation to Galveston! We stayed at the Moody Gardens Hotel. Max slept all the way there. When we got to our room, he flopped onto the bed, lay back on the pillows and looked very relaxed!
This was Max's first trip to the beach. In fact, this was Max's first vacation, period!
It turns out that a Monday through Wednesday in early May is a great time to go, crowd-wise. Everywhere we went, we felt like we were the only ones there ... certainly the only ones with school-aged kids!
We went all out at the Rainforest Cafe and got the volcano cake. The consensus on the ride was that it was "scary."

Walking along the Sea Wall, we got to observe changes since Hurricane Ike. (See the jellyfish growing out of my head?)
The Flagship Hotel, which used to be one of our favorite places to stay, now has a big hole in it.
All the little shops we used to like to go to on the Sea Wall were destroyed. But they rebuilt one of them ... this one (Murdoch's).
Gabe found SpongeBob and Patrick in the gift shop.
The rebuilt structure is just as I remember it last, but all the boards and posts are obviously new.
Well, that was our Monday! Since I have tons of pics from Tuesday and Wednesday too (and I doubt that my dentist appointment tomorrow will produce as exciting a story as our vacation), I will make this part one of three!
