When Gabe got home from school today, the first thing he noticed was the pond ... It's full!
The water level comes up to the second pier!
I asked him how it went with the toad today.
He said that the science teacher was sick, so they didn't get to do the amphibian lesson at all! Grrr ... Well, we can't keep the toad another week. (I'm afraid we'll accidentally kill him.)
At the bottom here, you can see the bucket with the toad in it. Buddy took Max and me to the library and the store today. The fire alarms in our house were going nuts with low-battery warnings, so we had to go buy some 9-volts! (Thanks, Buddy, for installing them.)
Max up, and off to the mailbox.
We decided to wait till Joe was home to release the toad.
Sleepy baby, playing i-pad on a stroll to the mailbox in some light, misty rain.
Time to let the toad go! Gabe came out into the cold in short sleeves and no shoes. Joe was irritated about having to pause his video game.
Maya came to see what was going on!
Our toad had buried himself in the dirt at the bottom of the bucket. I pulled him out ...
... and set him free!!
